Terms & Conditions
1. Quotation
1.0 Our quotation is an inclusive price.
2. Amendments
We reserve the right to amend the quotation price to reflect changes in circumstances not accounted for during the initial quotation. Any amendments will be confirmed in writing.
Such factors may include:
2.1 Work not carried out within 3 months of the quotation date.
2.2 Increased costs due to currency fluctuations, taxation changes, freight charges or increased fuel prices.
2.3 The need to collect or deliver goods above ground or first-floor level not disclosed at quotation stage.
2.4 Provision of additional services.
2.5 Work requested outside normal working hours (8:00 am to 6:30 pm).
2.6 Additional goods requiring removal or storage not included in the initial quotation.
2.7 Inadequate or restricted access to collection or delivery points.
2.8 Parking or parking penalty charges incurred.
2.9 Delays or external events beyond our control increasing the cost of the work.
2.10 No contract exists until we receive the signed Acceptance Form with deposit and confirm receipt.
3. Additional Work
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the following are not included in the quotation:
3.1 Dismantling or assembling units (including flat-pack).
3.2 Disconnecting or reconnecting appliances, fixtures, or fittings.
3.3 Removing fitted floor coverings.
3.4 Moving items deemed unsafe by our staff (including boxes over 25kg).
3.5 You should arrange separately for excluded work.
3.6 For dismantling/assembling services, we are not liable for damage.
3.7 We are not responsible for bed slat plastic retainer breakages.
3.8 Customers cannot travel in our vehicles (insurance policy).
4. Your Responsibilities
You must:
4.1 Declare the value of goods being removed/stored in writing (or elect the £50 per item liability limit in clause 9.0).
4.2 Obtain all required permits, consents, licences, and documents.
4.3 Be present or represented during collection and delivery.
4.4 Prepare and stabilise appliances prior to removal.
4.5 Prevent the removal of goods not belonging to you and ensure all your goods are removed.
4.6 Protect goods left unattended.
4.7 Ensure that goods fit into the destination property.
4.8 Empty, defrost and clean refrigerators/freezers.
4.9 Provide contact details during removal, transit and storage.
4.10 We are not liable for loss or cost arising from failure to meet these obligations unless due to our negligence.
4.11 Staff will not cross muddy or unsafe ground.
4.12 Loft access must have proper ladders, be fully boarded and adequately lit.
5. Ownership of Goods
5.0 You confirm ownership or authority from the owner for removal/storage.
5.1 You indemnify us against claims arising from breach of this clause.
6. Excluded Goods
The following items are excluded unless agreed by a company director in writing:
6.1 Prohibited, stolen, dangerous, explosive items, gas bottles, bulk liquids.
6.2 Jewellery, money, precious metals, stones, securities, stamps, collections.
6.3 Goods causing infestation.
6.4 Perishable items or those requiring controlled environments.
6.5 Animals, birds, fish, livestock.
6.6 Goods requiring export/import licences.
6.7 If such goods are removed without our knowledge, we accept no liability.
6.8 No liability for garden furniture or plants due to natural weathering.
7. Postponement & Cancellation
Charges depend on notice given:
7.1 More than 7 days: No charge.
7.2 3–7 days: Up to 50% of removal charge.
7.3 Less than 3 days: Full amount.
7.4 Working days: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
7.5 Deposits/boxes delivered: Nominal charge applies.
7.6 Unloading delayed due to keys: unloading may be postponed; additional costs apply.
7.7 Failed key exchange: goods placed into storage at your cost + re-delivery fee.
7.8 Waiting Time Waiver:
• Normally access expected by 2:00 pm.
• Delays incur £20/hour per crew member after 2:00 pm.
• Waiver removes charges until 5:30 pm.
8. Payment
8.0 Full payment must be received in cleared funds before removal.
8.1 Cash accepted only if pre-agreed, before loading.
8.2 No withholding of payment.
8.3 Interest applies to overdue payments.
8.4 Payment terms only vary with written agreement.
9. Liability for Loss or Damage
9.0 Liability is limited to the declared value or £30,000 (whichever is less).
If no value is declared: £50 per item.
9.1 No "new for old" compensation.
9.2 No liability for damage caused by your instruction against our advice.
9.3 Damage must be reported ASAP.
9.4 Extended Liability available at £2 per £1,000 cover.
9.5 No liability for flat-pack units moved assembled.
9.6 No liability for unprotected soft furnishings.
9.7 No liability for events outside our control (war, terrorism, weather, etc.).
9.8 Cancellation under 9.7 follows clause 7.0.
10. Excluded Risks
We are not liable for:
10.1 Cars unless transported in dedicated enclosed vehicle/trailer.
10.2 Electrical/mechanical derangement unless caused by external damage.
10.3 Damage to self-packed items.
10.4 Missing items without inventory approved by us.
10.5 Loss/damage before collection or after delivery.
10.6 Jewellery, precious items, money, stamps, collections.
10.7 Wear, tear, vermin, shrinkage unless caused by our negligence.
10.8 Consequential loss.
10.9 Food, plants, brittle objects, vermin-attracting goods.
10.10 Prohibited/dangerous goods.
10.11 Animals or cages/tanks.
10.12 Mysterious disappearance without evidence.
10.13 Employees individually incur no liability.
10.14 Underinsurance proportional claim reduction.
10.15 Liability limited to cost of repair, not depreciation.
10.16 Pairs/sets: only the value of the damaged part is covered.
11. Delays in Transit
11.0 Arrival/departure times are estimates unless agreed otherwise.
11.1 We will cover reasonable expenses for delays within our control.
If storage is required due to inability to deliver, costs fall to you.
11.2 HGV operations may require two-day moves depending on distance and legal work-hour limits.
12. Time Limit for Claims
12.0 Claims must be made within 7 days of delivery unless extended in writing.
13. Withholding or Disposal of Goods
We may withhold or dispose of goods if charges remain unpaid.
This includes unresolved potential loss/damage claims before move completion.
14. Subcontracting
We reserve the right to subcontract part or all of the work. All Terms still apply.
15. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the Law of England and Wales.
16. Whole Agreement
These Terms and the quotation form the entire agreement. No verbal agreements apply.
17. Termination
We may terminate the contract with 3 months’ notice.
If you terminate during storage, at least 10 working days’ notice is required.
Storage charges apply until goods are released.
